Water – A Precious Gift

Water – A Precious Gift is Chapter 7 of Class 3 Environmental Studies from Our Wondrous World. The chapter explains why water is a precious gift from nature and how rainwater reaches different sources such as streams, rivers, ponds, lakes, wells, and groundwater. Children also observe rain, collect rainwater, and think about what happens to water after it falls on different surfaces.
Students learn how water reaches homes through pipes, tanks, wells, borewells, rivers, lakes, and tankers, and why families sometimes need to store water. The chapter introduces different water-storage vessels such as clay pots, surahis, copper vessels, brass pots, steel pots, aluminium pots, glass bottles, plastic bottles, and buckets.
The chapter also focuses on water conservation and responsible use. Children learn that used water may become dirty, but some waste water can be reused for watering plants or flushing toilets.
