Waves, from Class 11 Physics, Physics Part 2, and the NCERT curriculum, introduces students to the fundamental concept of wave motion as the transfer of energy and information through a medium without the actual transfer of matter. The chapter explains how disturbances propagate in different media and classifies waves into transverse and longitudinal types. Students learn the characteristics of mechanical waves, progressive waves, compressions, rarefactions, crests, and troughs, along with the physical interpretation of wave propagation.
