Story Experience Review

Have you ever finished a story and wanted to talk about how it made you feel, what surprised you, or what you learned? A Story Experience Review lets you reflect on everything that happened in a book, chapter, or tale and explain your personal reaction to it. This playsheet guides you through the process of thinking deeply about a story’s events, characters, and themes so your thoughts become clear and meaningful. You discover that reviewing a story helps you understand it on a whole new level.
As you complete each activity, you’ll begin by recalling key details. You’ll think about who the main characters were, what challenges they faced, and how the story unfolded. You’ll consider which parts were exciting, confusing, or emotional. You learn that paying attention to details helps you explain why a story matters.
Next, you’ll analyze how the story made you feel and why. You’ll explore whether the characters reminded you of yourself, someone you know, or a situation you’ve experienced. You’ll think about what the author wanted you to feel—joy, suspense, sympathy, or curiosity. This helps you recognize that stories aren’t just read—they are experienced.
