Engage with Sensory Coin

Introduce children to the world of sensory exploration with the Engage with Sensory Coin activity! This engaging and hands-on activity encourages children to use their sense of touch to explore a variety of materials by feeling different sensory coins. Each coin can be made from a plastic or wooden base, and each one should be filled with different textures or objects (such as sand, cotton balls, beans, or beads). Children will explore each sensory coin to determine the different textures hidden inside, helping to improve their sensory awareness and language development.
As children explore the sensory coins, they will enhance their fine motor skills by handling the coins and describing what they feel. This activity promotes attention to detail and problem-solving as children identify the textures or objects inside the coins, such as "smooth," "rough," or "bumpy." It also encourages cognitive development as children make observations and predictions about what might be inside the coins.
The Engage with Sensory Coin activity also provides an opportunity for creative thinking and self-expression when children create their own sensory coins by selecting various materials and textures. They can even create a "sensory coin treasure hunt" where they hide the coins and have their peers guess the textures based on their clues.
